Our History
Family Built. Family Owned
Our family has been in the Adirondacks since the late 1700s. We have been riding and caring for horses near Lake George since 1942.
Willis Bennett started the riding stable in the middle of dude ranch country. He served in US Army during WWII, captured at the Battle of the Bulge, and became a German POW. On his return, he continued to build his ranch. We are the only family owned and operated ranch still in business today, three generations later.
“It’s 2007, we are celebrating our 65th anniversary as a family owned and operated establishment. Providing the joy and splendor of the horse, and the thrill of riding to thousands of vacationers and local people alike. Willis Bennett, a charismatic horse legend, in his own right, bought his first line of ponies in 1942. He drafted his 11 year old nephew Lawrence Bennett as he was helping with the haying ay a local farm. It was no surprise that Lawrence, urged on by his wife Bonnie and son Jeff took over the operation in 1989. Today along with his wife Bonnie, who runs the daily operations with children, grandchildren, many nieces and nephews still participate making trail riding available to the general public. It has been truly awesome living, working our passion, watching the growth of the children, and grandchildren along with the business. God has been good to us at the same time.”
